CareCheck

Care documentation for services that run on their own Nextcloud: tour planning, client records with care plans, visit bundles signed on site, and a tamper-evident journal – plus an optional offline-first companion app for staff phones and shared stations.

We improve this app with real-world use. Bug reports, rough edges, and ideas help – open a GitHub Issue or write to info@software-by-design.de.

What it does

Ambulatory care teams document visits wherever they happen – and the office needs proof, not phone calls. CareCheck keeps client records, care plans, visit bundles, and signatures in one place on your Nextcloud, so documentation travels with the tour instead of piling up on paper.

Coverage board & tours

Daily tours materialize from recurring templates; unassigned or uncovered stops stay visible until someone takes them.

Client records

Encrypted client records hold care plans, journal entries, photos, and monthly exports – the service record in one place.

Care plans

Publish plan snapshots that visits are documented against, so staff always work from the current plan – not a photocopy.

Visit bundles & signatures

Each visit is bundled with its plan snapshot and the signature captured on site – documented where it happened.

Tamper-evident journal

Append-only, hash-chained client and system journal – changes are visible, entries are not silently rewritten.

Members without accounts

Staff without a Nextcloud login join via QR pair code and PIN – no account plumbing per employee.

Offline-first companion

Encrypted on-device outbox; documentation is captured without reception and syncs when the network returns.

Break-glass cover

Substitution happens: audited break-glass access lets a cover worker act – every access is logged.

Where it fits – and where it doesn’t

CareCheck documents care delivery and produces the evidence trail. It is deliberately not a care management or billing suite – it pairs with the apps that do planning and working time.

  • DutyCheck – duty rosters and shift planning for care teams; CareCheck documents the delivered visits, DutyCheck plans the shifts. Available now
  • ArbeitszeitCheck – working-time compliance (clock-in/out, breaks); CareCheck documents care work, not payroll hours. Available now
  • TourCheck – the same checkpoints/journal architecture for guard rounds and inspections – a different industry, not a care tool. Available now
